Vinny Picardi

Founder of Car Buddies

Vinny Picardi is an entrepreneur who had developed two services based on the collaborative consumption model. The first, “Hey let’s split” received intertest from the CEO of Costco, Jim Sinegal. The second, Car Buddies, a company that developed real, objective reviews of the car buyers want to purchase, is also based on the platform based on a collaborative consumption model. It will be a breakthrough for the Automotive industry in its quest to attract millennials to a challenged industry.

 

His previous expertise was as Creative Director and then Executive Creative director in some of the most prestigious and awarded ad agencies on both coasts. This experience gave him unique consumer insights that lead to the creation of applications designed to address real world consumer needs.

 

Vinny’s ethos is firmly routed in giving back. His businesses and applications help regular folks. He sings at memory centers as part of music therapy for those with dementia and Alzheimers. He is the co-founder of Loiter Galleries. A non-profit art collaborative that supports disenfranchised artists and fills vacant storefronts with art and optimism in Downtown Long Beach.

Chief Strategist

Ian  McIlvaine brings a wealth of strategy planning to Car Buddies from over 30 years of global advertising agency experience for top tier clients including Toyota, Fiat Chrysler, Hyundai, Samsung, Hilton Hotels, Kawasaki, Suzuki, KFC, Sunkist, Thermador and many others.


In addition to his deep automotive experience, Ian’s strategic planning has delivered groundbreaking success for brands in other categories as diverse as business technology/SAAS, healthcare, public gaming, lodging/hospitality, powersports, package goods and franchise marketing. Tactical strengths include data mining, research evaluation, brand positioning, messaging, creative input, leveraging of purchased, owned and earned (social) media, brand performance metrics and course correction.
 

Ian interacts with all internal and external team members with energy, candor and insight to develop strategies and content to improve the market fortunes of the brand. He has frequently been engaged to help brands in particularly disadvantaged positions to achieve success amidst difficult competitive scenarios.

Jeff Masud

Chief Technology Officer

Jeff Masud has developed software from a simple vision to complex business logic for over 30 years. He harnesses experience from decades of designing, developing and maintaining a wide range of software applications and has managed and deployed hundreds of successful projects from web sites to sophisticated applications supporting millions of users, to advanced analytics, AI and Blockchain technologies.

Jeff and his team are ingrained in the Southern California market, having pioneered online community-building in the mid-1990s for musical artist Nine Inch Nails (Trent Reznor) and others. As a result, he and his team members have been invited to present at Google Tech Talks on numerous occasions, and he is currently spearheading global deployments of technology solutionsincluding responsible deployment of AI. He has built a broad base of leading clientele in automotive, CPG, music, entertainment, and hundreds of other businesses in dozens of categories.

Emily Pai

Head of Graphic Design

Emily Pai is a graphic designer and illustrator based in LA county with an emphasis in layout and advertising design. To Emily, graphic design is problem solving, and constantly a work in progress.

She was onboarded into the Car Buddies team by Vinny shortly after she finished up her undergraduate program. Through creating and designing Car Buddies' branding system and app demo, to now this very website, Emily continues to offer her artistic skills and advice to the team. 

When she's not designing, you might find her at home recharging by napping, watching movies or playing videos games, or at the local bowling alley aiming for a new personal best.
